RUT955 dead, power LED off, voltage 9.32 V

My RUT955 stopped working suddenly, no lights on. The power led is off. Resetting does not help. I measured the power voltage inside the box, it was 9.32. It is about 2 years old but not much used. Can I do something else but buy a new one?

Hi,

Try to do the following:

  • First of all, set a static IP address on your computer‘s network interface (e.g. 192.168.1.10)

  • Use private/incognito Web browser window with cleared/disabled cache

  • Power on the device while holding the reset button, and keep holding the reset button for 5 seconds after the device is powered on.

  • The router’s LEDs will start to flash rapidly, indicating that the bootloader’s web server (used for recovery) has started.

  • Access router via a different web browser page - http://192.168.1.1/index.html

  • Upload new router’s firmware (which firmware to use depends on the device’s hardware. Older devices require older LEGACY firmware, while newer ones - RUTOS firmware):

  • Wait a few minutes. The router‘s LEDs should stop flashing. Only the LED with the LAN cable connected to that port should be active (and some signal strength LEDs)

  • Try to access the router via a web browser at http://192.168.1.1
