RUT951 VPN/Port Forwarding

Hello,

I’m using a RUT951 and Sim Card with Public Static IP address, I have set up the port forward to access web based program on the PC that the RUT951 is connected to via LAN, I can access the web page with the Public Static IP address of the Sim Card, so that part is working.

However I have now introduced few clients (satellite sites) to connect to the Master RUT951 (the one with public static IP) via OpenVpn, however my client sites are unable to connect to the server if the Port Forwarding is on and as soon as I disable the Port Forwarding the Clients will connect and stay connected.

However my problem arises when the Clients disconnect from the OpenVpn they have no way of automatically reconnecting to the VPN as long as the Port Forwarding is on.

Is there any way to overcome this? is this a bug or set up issue? anyone else experience this?

Thanks in advance for all your input!

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out.

It is not typical for OpenVPN clients to be unable to connect to the OpenVPN server when port forwarding is enabled on that server. There might be some issues in the port forwarding configuration.

I will send you Hubspot instructions to your email. Following them please send us troubleshoot file of the RUT951 router generated after the VPN client tries to unsuccessfully connect to the server while port forwarding is enabled on your router. That will help us to point out what is causing this issue.

The troubleshoot file contains a device’s event logs, configuration files, and other info useful for diagnostics. It can be downloaded from your device’s WebUI, Troubleshoot page: System → Maintenance → Troubleshoot.

Kind regards,
Arnoldas
