RUT951 POE+ powering devices off the POE in function

The manual states that I should be able to power other devices off the POE in The device can be powered by an ethernet cable via the Ethernet (LAN1) PD port and supply power for other devices via the Ethernet (LAN2, LAN3, WAN) ports.

However I’m unable to get a 15W camera to be powered off the RUT951 without it being powered via the power connection using the included AC - DC power brick. Is the manual information incorrect or am I doing something incorrect / some setting I’ve not discovered that needs turning on?

Tried different cables and a midspan power supply in case it needed more juice but it is a POE+ switch I’m using

Greetings, phil2,

Thank you for your question!

I believe the issue might be related to the PoE input power levels. According to the device’s datasheet, the RUT951 requires 48–57 VDC input for PoE out to work. If the input voltage is lower than this range, PoE out will not function.

Please check the voltage being supplied through PoE in and make sure it is between 48 V and 57 V.

You can find more details by following the link below, clicking on the “All features” button, and navigating to the Power section.

Additionally, under the Downloads tab, you will find a downloadable PDF version of the device’s datasheet.

If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’ll be glad to help!

Kind regards,
V.

Thanks for the reply I did check when I was powering and the poe was providing 53v so was with the range quoted but no power out from lan 2-4.

Anything else I should look at?

Hello again,

Thank you for your question.

One important point to consider is the PoE input wattage. We recommend ensuring at least 120W of input power, as some energy loss may occur during transmission.

Each port can provide up to 30W of power, so the overall power budget should be above 90W to guarantee smooth PoE output.

Please also note that in order for the device to deliver Power over Ethernet (PoE), the cable must be Category 5e or higher. Teltonika’s standard cables are suitable for this purpose.

Could you kindly confirm the manufacturer, name, and model of both the camera and the switch (or device) that is powering the router?

Kind regards,
V.
