RUT951 DHCP IP assignment issue

Dear all,
I’ve a RUT951 hooked-up to Internet through a 4G connection. A laptop is connected to the RUT. I can login in on the RUT. The laptop has a proper IPv4 local address. The laptop can access the internet. The problem is the following. I tried to attach a cabled security camera to the RUT. This camera is accessible though another set-up, so I know the camera is working and DHCP is switched on at the camera side. The camera gets power through a PoE-injector. When I plug in the camera UTP cable into the RUT the green led starts to blink. So, there appears to be a low level connection. However, the camera does not get an IP address. It does not appear in the list of DHCP leases. Please advice.

Hello,

Could you try setting a static IP address within the RUT LAN subnet and default gateway on your camera? Additionally, if possible, could you add a simple network switch between the RUT and the camera to see if that makes a difference?

Furthermore, if you haven’t already, could you try testing your setup with a different UTP cable?

Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Dear Martynas,
I tried several things. First, it’s working now, so case closed. But for the record the following. it’s not the cable. I changed cables, I measured these electrically with a sepearte tool, besides, the cables work in different set-ups. I experimented with a fixed IP on the camera, checked the defailt gateway. This failed. What worked was: instruct the RUT to assign an IP based on the MAC identifier. Thanks for your help once more.

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing the solution that worked for you. I’m glad to hear the issue is now resolved by assigning an IP based on the MAC identifier.

If you ever need further assistance in the future, feel free to reach out.

Kind regards,
