RUT950 suddenly showing Data connection state Disconnected

Hi everyone,

My RUT950 suddenly lost mobile data connection like 10 hours ago. I was not modifying any of its parameters, and it did not automatically upgrade its firmware. Now it is stuck in that state :

The same SIM has been tested on a phone and allows data connections. I’ve tested 2 other SIM on the router (one from same operator, one from another operator) but connection state remains “Disconnected”. I’ve updated to latest firmware with no luck.

I can see this error message repeated among the system logs : daemon.err mobifd: [gsm.modem0] GSM error in “generic_enable_urc_cause:638” (Failed to parse response), gsmd_method_id: “163”

Same error with all SIM I’ve used.

I can share troubleshoot files from 2 different operators.

Could this issue be related to a mistakenly blacklisted IMEI ?

That definitely looks like a blacklisted IMEI. Can you try another SIM card from another operator?

The IMEI is not reported as blacklisted according to https://www.imeipro.info/ :

The answer to your question is in my first message :

I’ve tested 2 other SIM on the router (one from same operator, one from another operator) but connection state remains “Disconnected”.

I’ve asked my operator about possible changes regarding my account on their side. The answer is no.

I would suggestion to make backup of current configuration. Perform factory reset to same FW version 07.06.20 and check if Data connection state becomes Connected.

This is exactly what I was trying at the same time you wrote your message! Performing a factory reset solved the issue, indeed.

For the record, before the topic gets automatically closed, the router was still able to receive and send SMS. I’ve tried power cycling the device and restarting connection, in vain.
