I have a RUT950 installed at a very tight place at a remote field location, hence costly to go there. I was exchanging the SIM-card but lost it, and I suspect I lost it inside the RUT950. I suspect this as I tried to insert the SIM1 slot at a very acute angle, since my hand was in an awkward position.
Is this at all possible, or did I rather loose it underneath the whole router, inside the cabinet instead?
I’m asking the question here, since going to the field location is time consuming and expensive.
Yes, theoretically, if the SIM card was inserted incorrectly at a sharp angle, it could have slipped completely out of the internal guide rails and gotten stuck inside the router’s casing. To check if this happened, you can safely remove the front panel of the router. It is recommended that the device is completely disconnected from power before doing this.
Another possibility is that the card might actually be inside the slot, but it is not making electrical contact. This happens if the SIM card is slightly thinner than the standard size and does not press firmly enough against the internal pins, or if it was inserted slightly crooked.
I suspect the SIM card to have slipped completely out of the internal guide rails. Thanks for the clear info about the possibility to remove the front panel of the router.
Will keep you updated about the end solution, so other with the same problem can learn from my experiences.
Thanks for the update! Glad you were able to get the SIM card out easily. If you run into any other issues or have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
