Hi I’ve got a rut950 that won’t connect to mobile network on either sim slot did these ever come locked to a network?
The unit seems to have custom firmware and I can’t update it to a generic rut950 software

I’ve managed to upgrade the firmware tried two different versions to no avail
It sees the SIM card but says disconnected
I’ve tried another working sim with the same results (both sims work in other devices)
As Buzz Connect is largely a VOIP provider in the UK, but offered your device as a ‘Marine Broadband’ solution. It COULD be possible that the Custom firmware is locked down to their services only. There are always exceptions to a rule, but this would be my first assumption.
When you say you were able to upgrade the Firmware - are you now on the Standard Teltonika RUTOS firmware?
If not, you could try flashing the firmware via bootloader (do search here and on wiki), although I am unfamiliar with its sucess when your starting point is Custom Firmware. The RUT950 has had different hardware variants through its life-cycle, where you can only upgrade to a certain level of firmware. Refer to the Teltonika Wiki RUT950 Firmware page, to select the appropriate firmware version.
I managed to get a standard firmware on it but same results
OK that’s a good start. I am not so familiar with the older 950, so apologies in advance if my suggestions below are a bit ‘general’.
I would try …
a) Ensure you are on the latest firmware applicable to your hardware variant
b) Factory reset
c) set the mobile network IPv4 only
d) set the APN to Auto
If no joy then try setting the APN manually
See if it flys.
Hello,
Could you please confirm if you are still experiencing the same issue?
If so, could you specify the firmware version currently installed on your router? Additionally, have you tried following the steps that Mike provided?
Best regards,
