RUT906 Serial connection

Hi,

We couldn’t get the RUT906 to connect to Datalogger(Campbell Scientific, CR1000) via RS232, we do see the RUT906 is receiving from the Datalogger, as the Rx byte increase when the Datalogger is dialing, but Tx stays at 0B.

As both devices are DCE, we used a crossed RS232 cable. Also tried with straight cable, same can’t get them connected.

Datalogger configured to PPP mode:

1. Buadrate: 115200,

2. Modem dial string: AT\APPP, (also tried ATD*99***1#)

3. Modem dial response: CONNECT

4. DHCP.

For RUT906 we enable the serial OverIP with setting:

1. Buadrate: 115200,8,N,1

2. Flow control: None

3. Echo: On

4. Mode: Server

5. Protocol: TCP

We need the RUT906 to provide internet connection for the Datalogger via RS232, to allow the Datalogger to send the data via email and FTP.

Appreciate the help.

Thanks

Hi,

The “Over IP” RS232 mode on the RUT906 device is meant to forward all incoming serial data over TCP/IP to a remote server. If you have not connected a server to RUT906 - that would explain why TX is not increasing.

In this situation, you should use a different RS232 mode - “Modem Control”. In this mode, RUT906 will interpret the datalogger’s AT commands and should allow for establishing a dial-up connection. Try to use the following configuration instead:

Hello @LT_Tan,

Please let me know if your issue has been resolved or if you still need any assistance.

Hi Unknown,

Thanks for your reply.

The modem lost the WAN connection after switch to full control mode. Due to I am not familiar to AT command, so I tried partial control  and some commands but failed.

Are you able to guide me through the setup.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Marija,

Thanks for your reply.

Do you have any setup manual/instruction for RUT906 for my issue that can share with me?

Thanks

LT Tan
