[RUT901] DHCP and Static IP doesn't work out of the box

Hello,

I have a newly-acquired RUT901 which I didn’t configure. I use it in mobile mode, and I am connected to ETH1. The DHPC server has assigned me 192.168.1.221. In this setup, I have WAN access

As soon as I switch to a static IP on my Ubuntu machine, this breaks down - I don’t have internet access.
I assign the following to my local network interface:
IP:192.168.1.221/24
GW:192.168.1.1

Why don’t I have WAN access?

Thank you for the help!

Hi,

Did you configure DNS on your Ubuntu machine? Are you able to ping any host on the internet like 1.1.1.1?

Hi,

Yes, that was the problem. Thank you!

I was able to ping using DHCP leases, but not with a static IP because I had no default DNS in /etc/hosts.
