RUT901: 2 Reboots after update

Hi,
is it normal, that if i initiate a update on RUT901 that it reboots 2 times afterwards?

I used a lot RUT950 in the past and there the brhavior was:
-initiate Update
-LED’s flashing from left to right and back
-All LED’s light up (reboot)
-the 5 connection LED’s are blinking till the device fully booted up.
-DONE

Now on RUT901 one additional reboot is initiated after the first one.

If i downgrade the device to a older firmware version this does not happen! Only one reboot is done!

Is this somehow a bug or “wanted behavior” and why is it now like this?
For testing i used “RUT9M_R_00.07.09.4_WEBUI” for the update. I downgraded to several different versions and the update to “RUT9M_R_00.07.09.4_WEBUI” always needs 2 reboots.

I use some scripts to automatically update and configure the routers and this second reboot makes some trouble now.
How can i check via ssh if the Update has finished and the device will not trigger another reboot?

Best regards,
Jens

Hello,

I recommend upgrading your router to the latest firmware version, 7.10.2, as it includes important updates and fixes that might resolve your issue. You can download the latest firmware from this link: RUT901 Firmware Downloads - Teltonika Networks Wiki.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you have further questions!

Best regards,

Hi Marija,

thanks a lot!
With 7.10.2 there is only one reboot after update.

I tried before:
-07.06.10
-07.09.4
-07.09.10
All of them needed 2 reboots.
I Couldn’t find anything about this issue in the changelog!?

Can you explain what happened that it does not occur with 07.10.2?

Best regards,
Jens

Good to hear that it worked!

I haven’t encountered this issue before, so it’s possible that a setting, such as a ping reboot, could be causing the device to reboot again during the upgrade process. If the ping test fails, the device might trigger a second reboot. However, I can’t provide an exact reason.

Best regards,

OK, thanks.

Just for completeness: I always downgraded the device WITHOUT keeping the settings.
So this did not happen by any changes from my side. Only the password was changed by me (because it is forced to do so, before first login).
The update to a higher version was always done with “Keep settings”.

Thanks and best regards,
Jens
