RUT360 - Modem Unreachable after firmware update

Hello,

Iam having issues connecting to a mobile network. This router was successfully used about 1 year ago, but has not been used for a while. I got a new activated sim card and had it in, I had to do a factory reset to get it detected properly, but despite populating the data for the modem completely, the connection state said disconnected, so I did a firmware update to this, but then the modem says it’s unreachable.

I have looked around the forum for suggestions, but all the threads are reported but incomplete.

I tried the firmware on this thread ( RUT36X_R_00.07.04.5_WEBUI.bin ), as well as 14.3 & 13.4
All have the same result. I do not know what the orignal firmware was, but hoping you can help.
I logged into the CLI, and typed lsusb as suggesting in another thread, I can see two devices numbered 001 & 016.

Please let me know what I can try to get this working.

Following another advice I found, I removed the SIM card, and updated to the latest FW, I did not get any complaints about it being unreachable.
However, when powering down, re-inserting the SIM, and starting again, it now has the same issue as before, and cannot communicate with the modem

If the issue persists after the bootloader reset, and you have done the standard troubleshooting like checking and attaching the antennas, confirming the Sim card has no Pin code, putting the device in optimal environment where connection has been checked working, then I recommend contacting you distributor, for an RMA inspection, if the device is still within warranty.

I upldated it via the bootloader, and the modem was detected and I was abe to configure the APN for a short time, I saw it had detected the SIM and was state disonnected, I went in to set the correct APN, but as I was doing that it became unreachable again and the APN configuration options dissappeared.

I was using the latest Firmware. I tried again with the ‘Mass Production release’, with the SIM removed, but this time it was always marked as unreachable.
Is there an older Firmware that I could try that may improve this situation?

I bought this through Amazon, and is now out of their Warranty period.
Does this mean it is no longer usable?
As it was a fairly expensive piece of kit and is only 2 years old, which is frustrating

In your case, if the device is failing a bootloader reset and still experiences issues you described, we would be looking to troubleshoot the device in our premises, under the warranty procedure.
