I have just updated my RUT360 from RUT36X_R_00.07.04.3 to RUT36X_R_00.07.08.2.
My RUT360 has an EG06-E with firmware EG06ELAR03A05M4G.
On the UI I now see these messages:
Modem's firmware update is available
Please update your modem's firmware to ensure safe and smooth performance.
The advice that I normally see is along the lines of “don’t update your modem firmware unless you have a problem”. It is also really hard to find out what the latest modem software does. Finally, I only have the RUT360 as an Internet link - so if it gets “bricked” then it is a lot of hard work to try and recover it - and in any case I can’t find any sources of even my ‘current’ firmware that I could reload.
Am I supposed to just dismiss the ‘update’ reminder, or should I attempt the update?
Is there any way to find out what the differences are between EG06ELAR03A05M4G and the latest firmware?
Thanks,
Tim
