RUT360 Data Connection state - Disconnected

Hi

The last few times I have made changes to a RUT360 that required rebooting (including a recent firmware update) they resulted in a loss of data connection.

I didn’t know if this was connected, but the only real configuration change I had made was to lock the modem to band B7.

Usually I have to drive out to reset it, which is a real pain. This time, I had a profile called ‘Auto’, which put the band selection back to automatic.

Here are my sms messages and replies:

Trust me, there was a LOT of rebooting and waiting, I even tried things like ‘reset_conn’. I’m convinced it was the ‘changeprof Auto’ that fixed it.

Once it was back online, I accessed the web UI and put it back to band B7 again. But it was all very frustrating.

Less frustrating than having to drive out there again though!

Putting this here in case anyone can shed any light on it, and hopefully for someone from Teltonika to see and pass on to the developers.

Hello,

In order to diagnose the issue, you would need access to the device in the “disconnected” state. Would that be possible?
If not, some additional details about your setup would be helpful. For example:

  • Are you using Auto APN? If yes, have you tried configuring manual APN?

  • Can the device fallback to 3G when locked on LTE B7? And does your carrier support 3G?

  • Does this failure occur consistently between every profile change?

Best regards,

Thank you, however I’m not looking to diagnose the issue - I know it happens, and now I know how to work around it.

However, the answers to your questions are:

Auto APN is on.

Fallback to 3G is off (I am working with a very reliable, but quite weak 4G signal. Hence locking to LTE B7). My carrier supports 3G, but not for much longer! 3G is being turned off for most carriers in the UK I think.

The failure doesn’t occur on a profile change. It occurs when I do a firmware update - I don’t even know that it is the LTE B7 lock that is causing it, but I do know that changing profiles is able to bring it back to life!

Thanks again!
