My new RUT271 wont find any 5G network, led is off, if i put sim in another brand 5g router beside it works perfectly.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out.
To better understand your situation, please check/provide the following details:
-
Could you please clarify which LEDs are off, the mobile signal indicators or all of them?
-
Are the mobile antennas screwed and attached properly?
-
Is the correct APN being selected automatically, or have you tried entering it manually?
-
If the SIM card requires a PIN, have you entered it?
-
It would also be helpful if you could provide a screenshot from Network → Status → Mobile with any sensitive details hidden (such as public IPs, IMEI, ICCID, cell ID, etc.).
-
Additionally, could you let me know which operator you are using and whether they support 5G SA or only NSA?
-
Lastly, does the modem connect to an LTE network instead, or is it unable to register on any network at all?
Best regards,
only 4g led is on, and its connects to 4G (telenor sweden), sim has no pin, i can put my sim in a tp link 5g routern here on my desk and it works with good connection on 5G, i have tried auto and manual APN.

Best regards,
It just so happens that I’m experiencing a similar issue with a brand new RUT271. 2 different SIM cards that work perfectly in other 5G devices are failing to detect 5G - it detects 4G network type only. The correct APN is detected automatically. Firmware is 100% up to date. Performance is terrible on 4G as well - less than 15Mbps download and 5Mbps upload.
Hello @rhoc,
Could you please let me know which operator you are using and in which country you are located?
The RUT271 is a 5G RedCap router that supports only standalone (SA) 5G architecture. If your carrier’s 5G network is Non-Standalone (NSA), which operates on a legacy 4G LTE core, the device will not be able to connect to 5G, which would explain why it falls back to 4G only.
In this case, I recommend confirming with your operator whether their 5G network in the area is based on SA architecture.
Best regards,
Hi Martynas, thanks for replying - I have just yesterday spoken to the local Teltonika product specialist who explained that this is indeed the case for the carrier I am using - NSA network and therefore not compatible with Redcap at this stage.
Yes i understand thats my problem, no ISP in Sweden using SA right now, is it possible it can be fixed with firmware i future or is it hardware related?
Based on the conversation I had with the product specialist, I believe this is a carrier limitation. Until their networks support SA 5G then Redcap devices will continue to fall back to 4G since they can’t connect to NSA 5G. I was told that our main local (Australia) carriers are expected to upgrade their networks to support it within 12 months.
