RUT241: WAN connection through WIFI repeater

Hello everyone,

It’s my first message, sorry if the topic has already been discussed, but I’ve searched for it and haven’t found it.

I want to configure the WAN output on a RUT241 with a TP-LINK WIFI repeater that will be connected to a shared wireless network. Is this possible and will it work the same as if I had a normal router?

Thanks a lot!

Jaume

Hello,

We have a configuration example on our wiki that should help you with your setup: RUTOS Relay / Wi-Fi Extender / Repeater / Bridge Configuration.

Additionally, could you please clarify your question? What do you mean by “work as a normal router”?

Best regards,

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

I don’t think I explained it well, I’m sorry.

I’m not interested in a bridge connection. The RUT241 currently ONLY has a SIM card connection, and I want to give it a WAN connection, but instead of using a broadband connection with another router (fiber optic, Starlink, etc.), i want to use a Wi-Fi repeater, now I have explained?

Best regards,
Jaume

Hello,

Apologies for any misunderstanding earlier. If I now understand correctly, you want your RUT241 to establish a WAN connection from your WiFi repeater. If this is not the case, please let me know.

If this is indeed what you wish to achieve, you simply need to scan for available SSIDs from your RUT241 and connect to your WiFi repeater in client mode. You can find a detailed configuration example here: RUT241 Client Mode Configuration.

Best regards,

Hello Marija,

Just that! Much easier than I thought, thank you very much!

I will dedicate an astronomical photo to you,
Jaume
