RUT241 SMS Gateway - Forwarding to Email

I am trying to configure an RUT241 for SMS Gateway - Forwarding to Email. When attempting to enter the Sender’s Email Account into the field, it is not accepting any text input and stating ‘No Option Available’ however I cannot save the settings on that page due to this field being empty.
The Router is on the latest Firmware version [RUT2M_R_00.07.08.2].

Would appreciate any advice on how to rectify this problem

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out.

The issue you encounter is that when creating SMS forwarding to Email configuration you have the option to select “Sender’s email account” from added email accounts to the router’s WEB UI. If you haven’t added any email accounts to the router’s memory, you will see the “No options available” option and nothing else.

To add an email account, navigate to routers WEB UI, System → Administration → Recipients → Email Users tab, and add a new instance.

After configuration, you can test if the router can send an email with your added account.

With an email account added, you can go back to SMS forwarding settings and instead of “No options available” you should see your added email account.

I hope this helps with your issue.

Kind regards.

Hi again,
I have now set up the email as per your directions however, when I choose ‘Test Email’ I get ‘Message not Sent’ error. There is nothing in the Logs to indicate what the error may be.
I have set up the outgoing email configuration identical to an existing working email address using the same SMTP server, IMAP Port 465 and SSL Username and Password.
Should there be a Log entry as to why I am getting a ‘Message not Sent’ error when I select ‘Test Email’

Hi @TechSolInt,

IMAP is for receiving e-mail.(and uses ports 143 or 993)
For sending you have to use (depending on your provider)

  • Port 25 (SMTP) with STARTTLS
    or
  • Port 465 (SMTPS) with SSL
    or
  • Port 587 (SUBMISSION), usually also with STARTTLS
