RUT241 randomly switching to mobile operator with lesser connection quality

One of my RUT’s suddenly switched from a perfectly good mobile connection to a very troublesome connecting, resulting in no means of connecting to it anymore.

Mobile settings should be 2g/3g/4g auto, fixed mobile operator (Base), roaming disabled but I have no means to verify because I can no longer connect to the router.

It used to be connected to a good 4G connection (Base, -70dbm) but seems to have switched to a very poor 2G connection (NL KPN, -103dbm). I don’t see any reason for it to switch over. I have another router located 500m from that location, still connected as should to 4G Base (-72dbm), so the mobile operator network on site is fine.

For the time being, I have no physical access to the site and the current connection does not allow me to connect through the RMS portal (router shows offline). Any troubleshooting can be done by sms only for the time being.

By means of sms I’ve tried turning roaming off and resetting mobile connection. I’ve also tried to force the cellular service to 4G so that it might switch over to Base operaro again. All have failed so far, but I’m guessing some of the sms rules might not be set on this router.

Anything else I could try in the meantime before regaining physical access to the site?

After more attempts I managed to force to 4G wich implied connecting with operator Base again. After enabling monitoring and forcing RMS connection and rebooting I was able to connect trough RMS portal again. I’ve disabled dataroaming and limited the connection type to 3G+4G. This should be enough to prevent operator switching again.

I still wonder though why the router turned towards a lesser signal like the 2G at -103dbm, coming from 4G at -72dbm.

Hi, there is possibility that network pushed device to 2G by some reasons.
