Rut241 portforwarding

I am using RUT241. I have aws vpn server, I have successfully set l2tp over ipsec vpn client on rut241. I have one PC behind this rut241, I have web server site on this PC with port8080, I would like to access this web site through vpn from internet. Do you have anybody to know how to set port forwarding for vpn connection?

Hi there,

Before we continue any further, I’d like for you to properly clarify the configuration you currently have. From what I’ve gathered, your RUT241 contains an L2TP over IPSec configuration. You mention a web server that is on-site, but is that site also connected to the same IPSec over L2TP connection?

Regarding port forwards, it depends where you want to go from where, in other words, what are your source & destination zones. If you’re going to use VPN for this setup, your zones will most likely have to be the VPN zone to the LAN zone (since I presume the device is connected directly to the RUT241 somehow?)

I believe a network topology of your setup would help me out a lot in figuring this out.

Thank you,
M.

I attach the schematic diagram for my needs, I have setup L2TP over IPSec on router 241, router 241 has successfully connected AWS and a VPN IP address has been assigned by AWS VPN server to router. Now I need set a port forwarding to allow PC port 8080 behind router241 to be forward to vpn tunnel. so outside user is able to access website on PC.

I try to set up port forwarding on router 241, it looks like not working. so I need a help.

Hi,

Could you perhaps send me a screenshot of your port forward rule that you’ve created? Could you also confirm whether Masquerading is enabled or disabled under Network → Firewall → Zones on the LAN => WAN zone (first one) specifically?

M.

Could you please take a look at my setting:

  1. Settings

  1. Zone

3)port forwarding( internal PC IP: 10.10.13.6, and use use port 8080)

I did some modification on setting, but port forwarding still doesn’t work. please take a look at the screen shot below:

Internal PC: 10.10.13.6, port 8080

VPN 172.32.0.24:8080 to access PC (10.10.13.6) via rut 241 router through VPN.
