Good morning,
I am having trouble configuring my OpenVPN client (RUT241) in order to establish a connection to my QNAP server.
I have already updated the certificates to ensure they are valid, following this tutorial (https://helpomatic.com/update-openvpn-certificates-on-qnap/).
Therefore, they are located exactly in /etc/openvpn/keys
.
On the server side (Linux), I have this configuration.
My question is, what IP address should I enter in the “Network Configuration” parameters?
I have tried entering the server’s public IP address, something like 178.x.x.x, and the address 10.8.0.2/24. I have swapped them around, but I still haven’t been able to establish a connection.
Thank you,
Bruno
Hello,
Apologies for the delay. Could you please confirm whether the initial issue has been resolved in the meantime?
If not, regarding your question, in the Remote host/IP address field of the OpenVPN client configuration, you should indeed enter the hostname or public IP address of your VPN server (which, as I understand, you have already tried).
Additionally, could you please confirm/check the following:
- Whether the client certificates and keys were uploaded properly through the VPN client configuration window on the RUT241.
- If possible, could you also provide the OpenVPN logs from the client side (RUT241) and, if accessible, from the server side as well?
- What are the LAN IP addresses of both your server and RUT241 client?
Best regards,
