RUT241 cannot ping 8.8.8.8

I have just bought 2 x RUT241 kits, to use with an existing EE simcard in UK.

the primary purpose is to use these in the client side for NTRIP GNSS corrections, coming from the server at www.vrsnow.co.uk on port 2101.

I put my sim card into the RUT241, powered on, accesssed the web UI, and went through the setup wizard. fine, it looked like I’m on the web. (tested by playing a youtube video & browsing www)

I then tried running my NTRIP server, but no-go: would not connect to the server.
then I tried ping 8.8.8.8 - no response, error = NETWORK UNREACHABLE.
however, when I tried to ping the google URL, I got responses. Weird.
I then noticed that the built-in Teltonika RMS service was not available, again because of NETWORK UNREACHABLE (this error from the router’s Web UI.)
when I tried pinging within the router’s diganostic tools, same thing - I cannot get any response from 8888 but I can get responses from www.google.com
I tried registering the RUT241 within my RMS account, and while the RMS portal does allow me to register the device, I have no “green light” showing that the RMS portal has found the router online.
I started to suspect the sim card, so I put the sim card into an older RUT240 I had lying around. and it worked fine (the NTRIP client software worked, and likewise ping 8888 was good)

I tried updating the RUT241 to latest firmware, no change in behaviour.

I tried the other RUT241 I had bought. same behaviour.
I tried another sim card (albeit another EE one) in the RUT241, same behaviour
I tried factory-defaulting the RUT241 and running through the simple setup wizard again; same behaviour.

so I am reasonably certain that the problem is with the RUT241, either the hardware (?!?) or the settings.

it feels like a firewall issue. I have been through the firewall settings within the RUT241, turning off as much function as I can, and nothing I have adjusted yet has made any difference. (although I am not completely certain what I am doing there)

I am pretty certain that if I can get it to ping 8888 then the whole thing will work.
help!

Is it better if you set IPv4 only?

Hello @triscom,

To determine the root cause of this issue, we’ll need the troubleshoot file. Since it contains private information, we’ll handle it on a separate platform. Instructions for accessing it have been sent to the email you registered for this forum.

Best regards,

Marijus
