RUT241 bricked? factory reset does not work

Hello,

I did the following:

mkdir /mnt/mtdblock3
mkdir /mnt/mtdblock5
mount -t jffs2 /dev/mtdblock3 /mnt/mtdblock3
mount -t jffs2 /dev/mtdblock5 /mnt/mtdblock5

Because I wanted to look at what’s on these partitions, but then the routers stopped working and now it blinks weirdly and it looks like the factory reset buttons do not work.

What can I do?

Kind regards,
Philippe

Ok, will try the bootloader and report (RUT241 Device Recovery Options - Teltonika Networks Wiki)

Ok, trying bootloader (reset button + plug power + wait 4 seconds) does not change anything:

The network leds are all lit up except the 3rd & 4th which blinks very fast.

Could you try to wait more than 4s after reset+plug power. Also, is ethernet cable inserted during this procedure?

Yes, ethernet cable is plugged in port LAN.

Will try more than 4s and report.

Hello,

Could you please confirm whether you were able to access the bootloader menu?

If not, could you specify if you followed all the instructions provided here: RUT241 Device Recovery Options - Bootloader Menu?

Additionally, could you describe how the LEDs behave when you attempt to access the bootloader? Do they blink or just light up?

Best Regards,

Ok, I was able to access the bootloader menu and upgrade the firmware and it works.

That said, the led do not blink like the documentation says:

As you see the middle leds blink weirdly. After a reboot the leds behave normally.

Also, I wanted to upgrade the bootloader but could not find it at RUT241 Firmware Downloads - Teltonika Networks Wiki, where can we download it?

Hello,

Thank you for confirming that you’ve successfully updated the firmware via the bootloader and for providing the video.

Regarding the LEDs, are there any other issues with the device or its functionality, or is the only problem that the LEDs are blinking? Please try uploading the latest firmware via the bootloader once more and let me know if the issue persists.

As for the bootloader version, there is no need to upgrade it.

Best Regards,

Hello,

About the leds, as I said after a reboot they behave fine now. It’s just in bootloader mode, they behaved weirdly like show on the video.

About the bootloader, can you please fix the RUT241_Device_Recovery_Options#Bootloader_menu page, which mentions that “Firmware/bootloader image files can be downloaded from [here]” but it’s not true for the bootloader.

Kind regards,
Philippe

Hello,

I’m glad to hear everything is operating as it should now.

Thank you for pointing out the information on the wiki. We will fix it.

Best Regards,
