I recently bought a second hand RUT240.
It powers on fine, I’ve updated to the latest firmware (7.6.13), however, mobile connection is not working.
It does detect my SIM card (from Swedish provider Tre) and reads the IMSI and ICCID from it, however it does not detect the provider (just says N/A). This SIM card is known to be working (I’ve used it in another 4G router). Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated.
Hi dagmartin,
did you reset the router to factory defaults
after updating the firmware?

Hi @dagmartin,
It looks like there is an issue with your APN settings. You are using the “Auto APN” feature, but it is not retrieving the required APN.
Please contact your mobile carrier to find out the correct APN settings. You can also check the carrier’s FAQ webpage for this information.
To manually enter the APN settings, follow these steps:
-
Go to Network → WAN.
-
Press “Edit” next to the active mobile interface.
-
In the new pop-up window, disable “Auto APN.”
-
Enter the correct APN in the “Custom APN” field.
Best regards,
Hi @Marijus
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I did try setting the APN manual as well (according to the providers documentation).
I just tried doing a factory reset from the web GUI, same result still however.
Hello,
Which mobile carrier and APN are you using?
Best regards,
The carrier is “Tre” (3), the APN is “data.tre.se”.
Hi dagmartin,
according to this website the
apn should be bredband.tre.se
Quoting: “settings for regular phone use you change the APN to data.tre.se”
But that’s only what google told me.
Try it anyway.
Hi,
I’ve tried both bredband.tre.se and data.tre.se, from my understanding there is no real difference between these two APNs anymore. However, none of them seems to work.
Update, I’ve also tried with another SIM card with another provider (Telenor) which also works in other devices, so I’m suspecting there is something not quite working with the modem in my RUT240… the result is the same, it shows up as “Provider: N/A” under Status > Network > Mobile. I’ve tried both manual (services.telenor.se) and auto APN but same result.
Hello,
Please try resetting your device to factory settings and check again. The issue might be due to preexisting configurations.
Additionally, could you provide the product code of your device? It’s possible that your device is not intended for your region. To find the product code, go to Status → System and look for the Product Code section.
Best regards,
Hi, sure, here is a screenshot from the system status page.
I’ve run through the factory reset process again but still the same status.

Hello,
Could you generate troubleshoot file for further inspection? Since it contains private information, we’ll handle it on a separate platform. Instructions for accessing it have been sent to the email you registered for this forum.
Best regards,
Hi, sure thing! I’ve replied to the form you sent.
(This is great support, btw!)
Hello,
I found the root of the issue. This device is dedicated to the North American region, which is why it doesn’t connect to local European carriers. Since you bought it secondhand, the original owner probably didn’t know how to solve this problem and decided to resell it.
Best regards,
Hi,
Well, that’s a bummer… I will contact the seller then. Thanks a lot for the assistance!
