Apologies for the delayed response. I’ve tested the VPN configuration with Additional HMAC authentication. My RUT240 is currently operating on firmware version RUT2_R_00.07.06.11 and configured as an OpenVPN client, successfully connecting to another Teltonika device configured as an OpenVPN server.

I recommend upgrading your RUT240 firmware to the newest version, which can be downloaded from here: RUT240 Firmware Downloads - Teltonika Networks Wiki. After the upgrade, please test the OpenVPN connection once more.
