I have a RUT240 used for sending SMS through the HTTP API.
The issue is that after a while it stops working. It’s impossible to send new SMS without rebooting the router. When testing sending a SMS using the mobile utilities web page, the UI hangs followed with a “Failed to send message”:
If possible, could you access your device via SSH/CLI after the SMS fails to send and copy the output of logread (the bottom 20-30 lines should be sufficient)? This would help us understand the issue better.
I have rebooted the RUT but this time I still can’t get SMS to send… logread doesn’t show new lines after the SMS fails. The only lines mentioning GSM are from after reboot:

I tested sending a new SMS using the mobile utilities web page. It was successful this time. I really don’t understand why this error occurs… This is very problematic since the SMS are used as alarm notification.
I have exactly the same issue with my RUTX11, with the latest firmware 07.07.1 or previously with 07.06.3. It seems to have occurred after a restart.
However, for me, switching to 3G works. Is there an issue with Free’s 4G network? I don’t have the possibility to test another operator at the moment. Yet, on a smartphone in the same location, SMS works perfectly.
Your mobile signal seems to be weak, which might be causing messages to fail to send. Your data connection appears to be completely disconnected as well. Have you properly attached the antennas or tried moving to a different location where the signal is stronger?
I’ve disabled data because I only want to send SMS. The antennas are properly attached and I haven’t tried moving the router to a different location, no (installed on a client’s site). Is the signal really that weak for only sending SMS?
It seems like the signal is quite weak. You could try moving the router to a different area, preferably closer to a window or a more open space, and then check if you’re able to send SMS messages.
Could you provide troubleshoot file, as it would greatly help to inspect this issue. Since it contains private information, we’ll handle it on a separate platform. Instructions for accessing it have been sent to the email you registered for this forum.
