RUT240 Keeps Going Offline / Port Speed Changing

Hello,

My Teltonika RUT240 running the latest FW (RUT2_R_00.07.04.5) keeps going online/offline for no apparent reason.

WITHOUT anything connected to LAN or WAN Port (only on SIM):

1861 2023-10-04 14:30:52 Switch Events Port speed for port CPU/WiFi changed to 1000 baseT
1860 2023-10-04 14:30:52 Switch Events Port link state of port CPU/WiFi changed to UP

WITH a device connected to LAN:

1829 2023-10-04 00:31:12 Switch Events Port speed for port LAN1 changed to 100 baseT
1828 2023-10-04 00:31:11 Switch Events Port link state of port LAN1 changed to UP
1827 2023-10-04 00:31:09 Switch Events Port link state of port LAN1 changed to DOWN
1826 2023-10-04 00:31:04 Switch Events Port speed for port LAN1 changed to 100 baseT
1825 2023-10-04 00:31:04 Switch Events Port link state of port LAN1 changed to UP
1824 2023-10-04 00:31:03 Switch Events Port link state of port LAN1 changed to DOWN
1823 2023-10-04 00:30:51 Switch Events Port speed for port LAN1 changed to 100 baseT

This started happening a few weeks ago, and I have done the following:

  • Reset Device to Default; Set It Up Again
  • Changed the Ethernet cable from the device connected to LAN (In case that was damaged)
  • Tried running the Teltonika without any hardware connected to it

It seems that the Lan Port Speed keeps switching when hardware is connected to it, and at some point the unit becomes inactive/requires a power cycle.

Even without hardware connected, it doesn’t seem to be stable.

I see that others have had this issue in the past. This is my first time seeing this issue. Any recommendations to fix this?

Hello,

Could you please clarify what you mean by ‘keeps going offline’? Does it mean that the device loses internet connectivity via the SIM card or is the router, i.e. WebUI, is completely unreachable? You also mentioned that it ‘started happening a few weeks ago’. I assume that this happens only sometimes? When does it happens? Are there any patterns as to when it happens?

Did you change anything in the configurations or was it just a firmware update?

The event logs from the status page are quite limited and seem fine. The device shows CPU/WiFi port, which is normal. The second table shows LAN1 ports going up twice, but this may not necessary indicate an issue with the port. Thus, when the issue occurs again, could you please navigate to Status → Administration → Troubleshoot and ‘view’ system logs? Please, hide any sensitive information that may potentially be in the logs, such as public IP addresses, and post logs that were generated around the time when the issue occured. Please keep in mind that the logs are stored in RAM memory and are lost on device reboot. Hence, it is important that the logs are viewed after the issue occurs, but before restarting the device.

Kind Regards,
