RUT240 firmware upgrade problem

Hi,

We have problem upgrading our RUT240 devices with the latest RUT2_R_00.07.06.3
This problem affects about a dozen of RUT240s.

I tried on web interface, and on SSH terminal too. The device always comes back with the original firmware, no upgrade performed. (originals: RUT2_R_00.07.06 and RUT2_R_00.07.06.1)

Has anyone the same issue? Is there anything that can be done remotely? The devices are hundreds of kms away.

Hello,

Could you please check how much RAM you have available on your RUT240? RUT240 does not have much RAM memory, so it is possible that there is not enough RAM to update. You can try disabling unnecessary services and try upgrading via SSH again. Make sure that no one is connected to the Web interface since it also requires quite a bit of RAM.

Since the device is far away, I would suggest waiting until you have the opportunity to have local access, as forcing updates (may break things) or going through the bootloader is not an option in this case.

Kind Regards,

Hi,

Thank you for your suggestion. We tried to stop few services just before applying the upgrade and it finally succeded.
I wonder why the sysupgrade don’t do the same. There are many services that can be safely shutted down just before the actual flashing. (wpad, uhttpd, snmpd etc)
