Dear Sirs,
i use the rut240 to send images from a camera, to our server via ftp, via Ovpn.
We experienced a problem on many rut240. after 6 months working, the routers starts to employ 4minutes to connect to the provider cell, instead of 1.5 minutes. For us is a problem since all sistem is a balanced solar system, that get on every 20minutes, shoot a photo, send data and get off till the next cycle and 4minutes instead of 1.5 minutes to connect for us is an energy problem.
Do you know why the rut240 has the above behaviour and how to resolve?
Thanks
alessandro

Hello,
Could you please clarify if it takes the device 4 minutes to connect to the mobile operator, or does it take 4 minutes for it to connect to the operator and establish a VPN connection?
Did you update the firmware recently by any chance? What is the current firmware version of the device?
Also, what kind of OVPN are you using? Is that your own server, or maybe you are using RMS VPN Hubs?
Kind Regards,
Dear Andzej,
Answers:
1)it takes 4 minutes for it to connect to the operator and establish a VPN connection!
2) Did you update the firmware recently by any chance? NO

3)Also, what kind of OVPN are you using? It Is our own server
NB
probably we found a bug on root 240 reboot scheduler. It add avery reboot a file and on startup try to read it, loosing time. On many month working the rut240 become slower and at the end it crash.
attached syslog and kernel log where you will see the error.
The files are inside /etc/crontab named rootxyz
ANOTHER QUESTION
After a firmware upgrade, the rut 240 doesn’t connect to rms teltonika anymore. Do you have a solution? The rut240 is far from us
Thanks
Alessandro

Hello,
The attached file appears to be corrupted, and I am unable to open it. However, I was able to access the crontab file. I strongly advise against sharing any troubleshoot files publicly, as they may contain sensitive information and pose potential security risks.
Are there any scripts that you are currently running on the device?
Nevertheless, could you please review the entries in your crontab? To do so, execute the command ‘crontab -e’ and edit the file to include only the necessary commands, such as the one for rut_fota.
Also, I assume you updated the firmware with the ‘keep settings’ option enabled. If that’s the case, there might be some migration issues arising from significant differences between the firmware versions. Restoring the device to factory defaults via an SMS message should resolve any migration problems, if they exist. However, before attempting that, you can try the following steps:
- Please attempt to reconnect to RMS by sending an SMS to the device using the following format:
- <router_password> rms_connect
Please replace <router_password> with the password you used to log in to the router’s WebUI.
-
Log in to the device via SSH and execute the following command:
- /etc/init.d/rms_mqtt restart
-
Finally, could you please unregister the device from the router’s WebUI by going to Services → Cloud solutions → RMS, and then add it again?
How’s overall internet connectivity on the device? If there are issues, could yo try executing the following command:
If the returned MTU value is less than 1500, then change the MTU value on your mobile interface based on the output of that command in Network → Interfaces → General → Edit mob1s1a1 → Advanced.
Kind Regards,
