RUT230 doesn't shows up in RMS whilst monitoring is stated as "enabled"

RUT230 doesn’t shows up in RMS whilst monitoring is stated as “enabled” when interrogated remotely by SMS.

rms2_ready

It 's really weird, this behaviour from RUT230. Usually when I want to retake control over a RUT240, I usually send a SMS ‘admin_password restore’, than the Router instantly shows up in my RMS account, and I update it, and reconfigure the VPN settings.

Maybe RUT230 are too old devices that can’t connect to RMS?

Did somebody already experienced that?

Can you bring your box to firmware version 1.14.7 and - if it’s not too old - to 07.03.4 afterwards?

Troubleshooting ancient versions can be a pain…

Well, I can try if I send SMS “admin_password fw_upgrade” but I don’t know how to know the current version of the RUT230 by remote SMS interrogation.

Can you try this SMS command:

admin_password uci show system.system.device_fw_version

Please find the answer of RUT230 from the suggested command, the firmware version seems pretty old.

It seems that the upgrade to server forcing is not working through the SMS command “admin_password fw_upgrade”. The firmware version seems stucked at 1.02.3.

The RUT230 router not appearing in RMS (Remote Management System) despite the monitoring being stated as “enabled” can be due to various reasons. Here are detailed steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Internet Connectivity

Ensure that the RUT230 has a stable internet connection, as it needs to communicate with the RMS servers.

  • Step 1: Log in to the RUT230’s web interface.
  • Step 2: Navigate to the Status section and check the internet connection status.
  • Step 3: If the internet connection is unstable or disconnected, troubleshoot the connection issues by checking the SIM card, antenna placement, and signal strength.

2. Verify RMS Settings

Ensure that the RMS settings are correctly configured on the RUT230.

  • Step 1: Go to the Services section in the RUT230 web interface.
  • Step 2: Select RMS and ensure that the monitoring is enabled.
  • Step 3: Check that the RMS Server URL is correct (e.g., rms.teltonika-networks.com).

I am sorry but your reply does not help me, as I have only SMS to communicate with those RUT230 router. By the way, you placed a web link under the word “here” that this seems more like a malware website. I am waiting an answer from Teltonika community team.

Hi timotheebarbe,

Welcome to Teltonika Networks Community! Apologies for the late revert.

As you’ve mentioned that you only have SMS to communicate with RUT230, there are a couple of things I would like to check.

  1. In your RMS company, is Auto extend and service enabled for RUT230 monitoring?
  2. Are there sufficient credits in RMS?

If service and credits are confirmed, our only option to troubleshoot is to have physical access to the device and upgrade the firmware from file, not from server.

Let me know if this helps.

Regards,
