Rut200 remote log in to change SSID / password

Hi all,

I have a RUT200 installed connected (ethernet) to monitoring equipment in India. A new instrument was recently added which has saved WiFi details in from being set up on a different RUT200 router. So, i’m after a way to ideally use SMS to remote set the SSID / password to that of the other RUT200, then the newly installed kit will ‘see’ that WiFi as all saved on it and go online. I cant http or https into it, it is a 10.XXX IP address on a Lebara (UK - free India roaming) SIM. SMS commands all work fine, but can’t find a way to set SSID / password with SMS, tried manuals and ChatGPT (suggests sensible sounding things that don’t work!). Any ideas much appreciated.

Hello,

You can change your RUT200 router’s SSID and Wi-Fi password by sending SMS commands from your phone. To do this, make sure UCI API is enabled in WebUI under Mobile Utilities → SMS Utilities → SMS Rules.

To change the SSID, send the following SMS:
<router_password> uci set wireless.default_radio0.ssid='Your_SSID'

To change the Wi-Fi password, send:
<router_password> uci set wireless.default_radio0.key='Your_Password'

After making these changes, don’t forget to commit the configuration by sending:
<router_password> uci commit

Additionally, for remote device monitoring and management, we highly recommend using the RMS (Remote Management System) platform.
