RUT200 4G Range with external antenna

Hi, we have a wind farm that is about 15km from a 4G tower, and would like to use the RUT200 to access that cell tower.

The idea is to use a directional antenna as suggested by Claude.

Anyone had an experience with external antennas and this range?

Thanks and advance!

Hello szimath,

Thank you for reaching out.

Determining whether a router will maintain a strong and stable connection to a cellular tower at a distance of approximately 15 km can be challenging without real-world testing. Performance at that range depends on multiple variables, and we recommend verifying it directly with the device in the intended environment.

Signal quality may vary significantly based on factors such as terrain, line of sight to the tower, and potential obstructions including buildings, vegetation, or other physical barriers.

For reference, please see the example of typical cell tower coverage sourced from publicly available data:

Please note that we do not currently offer directional antennas in our product portfolio. However, you may find suitable options through one of our partner websites.
