RUT12X-Factory reset options fails

Hi support team.
Rut12X
was working fine, then the logging password that I have been using is not responding, I’m sure it’s the correct password, I decided to factory reset via reset button, didn’t work and also disabled the web portal.
But I’m able to ping the device on the old IP, not the one that should have after the reset.
I tried the bootloader recovery, LEDs didn’t show as the manual indicates, all LEDs are off, but it was on bootloader mode, because it was responding ping on 192.168.1.1 tried to open 192.168.1.1/index.htm but I had not response.

Any help ?

Hello,

Please avoid sharing sensitive information, such as device serial numbers, on public forums, as it may not be safe.

Regarding the bootloader menu, could you confirm whether you had set a static IP on your PC (Setting up a Static IP address on a Windows 10 PC - Teltonika Networks Wiki) when your device entered this mode?

Best regards,

Hi Marija
Yes, I set static IP (192.168.1.2) on my network adapter.
Any suggestion?

Hello,

Thank you for confirming that.

When you performed the factory reset using the reset button, could you please clarify how the LEDs behaved? When you pressed the button, did the signal strength LEDs light up one by one, or was there no reaction to the reset button at all? After releasing the button, did the LEDs start flashing, or did they behave differently?

Additionally, before the issue occurred, were there any specific configuration changes that might have contributed to it?

Best regards,

The LEDs light up one by one and they stay on with no changes until I release the button, all the LEDs turn off and the router reboots.

There has been not modifications on de configuracion recently.

Thank you for the information.

Could you please clarify the following:

Do you mean that you are seeing an error message stating the password is incorrect? Or are there any other indication messages showing what might be wrong?

Additionally, could you confirm if you are able to reach the WebUI login page of the router now? If so, are you using the custom IP you have set or the default one? Lastly, to access the WebUI, are you using a static IP, or is it set to auto?

Best regards,

Yes, I got the "password incorrect " message.
After trying several times, I decided to factory reset with the button, having the LEDs response described on my previous message, after that I lost the WebUI, if I scan the network and the custom IP of the router is there, it response to ping but the WebUI is not responding.
Im using a stactic IP on my computer, wich is connected directly to the router and nothing else is connected to it.

Hello,

Could you please confirm whether you are able to log in to the router via CLI?

Best regards,

Hi Marija
Y was able to reach the CLI but had the same issue.
password is " incorrect "

Hi @gsauceda,

first: could you please stop writing “password is not responding” because that
is totally irritating. The password is either correct or incorrect, but it does not
“respond” to anything.

Did you use the factory password after resetting the RUT to factory defaults?

Hello
Timelapsesystems, my past message has been adjusted for your personal interpretation of the password field response.

And yes, if you reed my past messages, I did tried the default password.
Thanks for your help.

Hi @gsauceda,
great. Now a (hopefully) more productive posting

Let me recap:

  • ping to the IP set by you works
  • ping to 192.168.1.1 doesn’t
  • WebGUI doesn’t work on any address
  • first step of bootloader recovery went ok but 192.168.1.1/index.htm didn’t open

Correct until now?

My guess: there never happened a factory reset. OR the factory reset didn’t complete.
My suggestion: try again and wait at least ten minutes before accessing the device.
I usually let a ping 192.168.1.1 run during this time but just responding (oh, the word  )
to pings doesn’t mean the web server is already up and running.

Hi @timelapsesystems

Yes, thats right.
Looks like its not factory resetting as you mentioned. And I did let it rest for more than 1 hour after the factory reset process and tried to access again, same results.

Looks like its and issue with the web server; is there a way to access via CLI ?
I have tried the root / custom password and default admin01 pass.
Without success.

Thanks

Hi @gsauceda,
I usually access my RUTs from a Linux box with the ssh command
or from a windows box with the PuTTY ssh client.

Another (rather strange) idea: have you tried https://192.168.1.1?
And: can you try a port scan on the RUT?

Not giving up yet
