We have a new RUT951 which has a mobile SIM card in it. This is replacing a faulty unit but oddly the SIM card inserted shows it’s connected fine and works on laptop connected to WiFi, but the RUT itself cannot seem to get any internet to update firmware or talk to RMS portal.
Also oddly, if I restore an old backup from a RUT 951 it seems to work. Has something changed in the latest firmware that is causing this?
I have run into a similar issue with my RUT951 after a recent firmware update — it was frustrating at first because everything seemed fine with the SIM and Wi-Fi, but the router wouldn’t connect to the internet or the RMS portal.
One thing I discovered was that a small change in the mobile APN settings in the new firmware was causing the connection to fail. I had to manually re-enter the correct APN info (even though it was set automatically before), and it immediately solved the problem.
It also got me thinking about how firmware updates can sometimes ‘reset’ or alter certain settings, especially for mobile connections. I agree with @user123 about checking your network mode and PIN settings too — those are quick fixes that can make a huge difference.
For anyone facing issues with RMS portal communication, I’d also recommend taking a look at DNS settings or even trying a different DNS server (e.g., 8.8.8.8) — I had a similar issue where the router just couldn’t resolve the portal’s domain.
