RTUX12 Query about Modem Firmware update Jan 2025

Hi,
I’ve RUTx12 router and I was wondering two things.
firstly if there is a firmware update for the modem ?
I get that the WEB UI says modem updates from file are not supported for this device;
however the chip manufacturer has produced updated firmware’s based on this forum post:

My current build info:

  • Firmware version RUTX_R_00.07.12
  • Firmware build date 2025-01-17 11:31:32
  • Primary modem firmware version EG06ELAR04A20M4G
  • Secondary modem firmware version EG06ELAR04A20M4G
  • Kernel version 5.10.229

second point is about the modem card, the version of RUTX12 I have shipped with modem EG06E; as of the product change notice ’ 2024.08.22: Cellular Modem Changes’ RUTX12 Product Change Notifications - Teltonika Networks Wiki

The product is now shipping with modem EG060K.

I was wondering if there is possibility / benefit to the new modem? looks like some Suttle changes that may result in improved performance?

  1. Yes, there is a newer A23 modem firmware version available for the EG06E modem.
  2. Regarding subtle changes and potential performance improvements, I haven’t specifically tested or confirmed any differences, though it is reasonable to assume there might be improvements. However, you can find detailed specification changes for the EG060K modem in Quectel’s product data sheet, which is available here.
