We have been using a RUT950 with a camera to monitor our model airfield for 2 years. At the moment we have the router configured to PDP ipv4, which works fine, but from time to time the router needs to be rebooted and that’s where we run into the problem. After the reboot we always have a different public IP address, so we decided to get a new data contract with a fixed IP, i.e. ipv6. I have also configured the router so that it dials into the network and we are assigned the IP, but the link to the camera does not work, I can only get to the router’s login page for external access, but not to port 443 where the camera is configured.
Do you have any idea what settings need to be changed when changing from PDP ipv4 to ipv6?
If you’re using IPv6 only, you can change the PDP type to IPv6 by navigating to Network → WAN → Edit Mobile Interface and updating the setting under General Settings.
Why you’re not using DynDNS (DDNS) - eventually in combination with VPN to solve your problem with changing public IPs rather than digging into IPv6?
There‘s tons of DDNS services out there as well as VPN for free (e.g. ZeroTier).
Hi Marija,
many thanks for jour response! The router is working since yesterday, I got the wrong APN from the network provider and i also had to make changes in the LAN settings, the Camera got no DHCPV6 address. Kind regards, Thomas
