RS232 via RUT906 on a DTE device

Hello,
I’m trying to establish a connexion on a DTE device (a scientific datalogger Campbell Sci. CR800) with the RUT906. I’ve created a virtual connexion OverIp with 19200b 8N1, the status is UP, when I try to launch a connexion on the remote device I see on the RUT906 the parameter “Last time data sent” pass to 0s, so it seem that it receive something, but the TX and RX paramater still 0 bytes. And the connexion times out…

I’m using a null modem cable (Tx>Tx & Rx>Rx & GND<GND) which is recommended to a DTE device. Campbell docs recommend to wire DTR on the pin 1 on both side, which I did, but same result. I suspect any limitation on a firewall settings or something, on RUT906 side.

Have you any idea, I just can’t establish the connexion but it feel like I’m close…

Hello again,

since as far as I know we doesn’t have access to a tech support, I still can’t resolve my problem on this RS232 interface.
Anyone have an idea on what I’m doing wrong here ?

Bye

Hello,
just trying no to be closed on my request, as after 14 days without a single response the topic is closed (and that’s today).
Is there really nobody that have a clue on how the RS232 port works ?

Hello @vialb ,
From your description your wiring seems to be correct, so I would suspect an issue on the IP side.
Could you clarify if you were able to connect to Serial over IP from a PC or another router?
How are you reaching the router? Are you using a VPN or a public IP?
If you have configured the OverIP service in server mode, make sure you allow connections from the interface you’re reaching the device from in the IP filter section:

(0.0.0.0/0 means all connections are accepted - I highly suggest avoiding this on the WAN interface)

Hey @Daumantas ,

Sorry for the delay, I never send my last response…
I’m able to connect the datalogger (the device) from a PC via another router (Netmodule NB800 to be specific). Locally, and remotely.
We use both Public IP and VPN but, most of the time, we use Public IP.
For the IP filter options, I opened both “wan” and “lan” interface in 192.168.1.0/24 ; and all my device are in this range of IP.
Really don’t know what is blocking the connection.
Especially, I can see on the main “Over Ip configuration” panel that Rx and Tx increase the bytes the exchange when I launch a tentative of communication.
