Reporting an issue with Bat 120

I am using two bat 120s on two rutx50s. I have the latest firware installed on the rutx50s
RUTX_R_00.07.06.5
I’ve had the bat120s since November 2023 and in December 2023, one of them failed and was replaced. Last night one bat 120 stopped working. I swtiched off mains power to all 4 units overnight and swiched on mains power this morning. One bat120 commenced charging but the other did not. About two hours later, I noticed both bat120s charging. The two units have been charging all day and one units is fully charged but the other unit (faulty one) is still charging with one flashing light. I contacted the seller who asked me to submit a question and report your reply.

Thanks
Josh

Hello,

Could you try connecting the RUTX50 directly to the power mains and leave the BAT120 charging without any load for at least 10 hours?
Additionally, make sure the On/Off switch on the BAT is set to On.
If the device stays on one bar, then it likely experienced a fault and should be returned.
Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Thanks Daumantas. I tried both your suggestions. Charging overnight with rutx50 plugged directly to mains power while attempting to charge the bat120 directly to mains power but no charge occured. I then tried connecting bat 120 to rutx50 to charge all day but it died (no lights at all) late in the afternoon. My supplier had a replacement for me this afternoon and everything is working fine with the new replacement unit already three bars charged. I can’t explain what has happended to both failed bat 120 units. I switch off the bat 120 units overnight and let them to charge all day whilst connected to rutx50 which is exactly how I expect them to work. If there is a different procedure for operating the unit, please advise.
Regards, Josh

Hello,

In that case, it seems like there is a hardware issue with the previous BAT units. The should be returned for a replacement.

Best regards,

Thanks Daumantas. It would be very useful to know the useful life of a bat120 as the product flyer only indicates 6hrs of battery life during a power outage. Planning a replacement should be known at the point of purchasing this unit to allow other UPS options to be considered.

  1. what is the expected life of a bat 120 or how many recharges it can take when it switched off overnight and charged daily.
  2. what is the expected life of a bat 120 if left switched on 24/7.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Hello,

BAT120 is designed to operate as a UPS, thus it’s battery life expectancy is expected to be much greater when compared with other “power bank” options.
It should be noted, that in your case the issue is unlikely to be with the batteries, but rather the circuitry. BAT120 is constantly being improved with each hardware revision to improve reliability and extend the battery life as much as possible.

Best regards,

I had the same issue with a brand new unit, To fix it I opened the unit up and disconnected that battery for 30min and re-plugged it in and worked and started charging again.
