says that End of Support date is 2028-07-31. But there are variant models of RUT950 [eg RUT950UG1XXX], some of which can only run RUT9XX_R_00.06.09.5 firmware which is from 2023. So this is end of support already, right?

No, the end-of-support date for the RUT950 models running legacy firmware is the same as for RUT950 units with later RutOS firmware versions.
However, most likely, there won’t be any major software changes—only security and bug fixes for 24 months after the end of production. After that, for an additional 36 months, critical security fixes will still be provided. Additionally, customer (technical) support will continue even beyond the official end-of-support date.

So to be clear, there have been no security issues or bugs in the 6.x firmware since 2023/05?
A supplementary question…these “legacy” RUT950 devices have the same model as the not-legacy ones. How do I know when end of production was if they have the same model number and are not broken out separately on that page? Could you update that page to clarify?
Yes, there have been no known security issues or bugs in the 6.x firmware since May 2023. You can find all changelogs for legacy firmware on our wiki page: RUT950 Legacy Changelog.
Regarding the end of production, the RUT950 devices with legacy firmware had the same end-of-production date as those running RutOS firmware – December 31, 2023, as indicated on the EOL products page.
