Since December 13, I can no longer ping the RUT901 and connected device through the RMS VPN hub, but the other router (RUT956) works fine. I have tried reinstalling the VPN hub and updating the firmware. At the same time, the device connected to RUT956 can no longer reach the device connected to RUT901. Both routers use a mobile network. Everything worked fine since June 2025.
Hi!
- What application are you using? Would this be RMS VPN app or OpenVPN connect? If it’s the first option, please use OpenVPN Connect, as the RMS VPN application is in BETA and could cause random issues.
- If you don’t mind, could you try changing the routes on your device to be 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0 (or 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0, depending which device routes don’t work) instead of having a direct route? Make sure to delete the old routes and give the hub a restart after the changes.
- Additionally, head to Network → Firewall → Zones and enable Masquerading on the LAN=>WAN zone and give it a Save & Apply.
Let me know how it goes,
M.
Hi. The problem is solved. It was an issue with mobile coverage. I assume it’s because all operators in Sweden closed 2G/3G two weeks ago, and 4G doesn’t work so well at high altitudes. I changed the preferred network type to 4G only. I also changed the APN to 4g.tele2.se; otherwise, when it was set to AUTO, it used internet.tele2.no.The connection is still unstable, but that’s another problem.
Thanks for the heads up!
Regards,
M.
