Port Forwarding FTP RUT901

Hi,

I tried to establish a Port Forwarding on a RUT901, following the guideline here:
https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT900_Firewall#Port_Forwarding

The RUT901 was reset to factory default, and is connected as DHCP Client over WAN port. Device is pingable and MAC identifies it, but.

Clients for that type of connection do not connect coming in over WAN port. They do not run into a timeout, but look like to be rejected. Port is not listed as opened when port scan is ran against. Even if input/output/forward are set to allow in general settings, as described in the document above, the connection is not made.

The targeted FTP server, which is not DHCP enabled on the local network, so not listed (?) as a device, when creating a rule. That may be an issue. But since i am allowed to “Add” the IPv4, i expect that is not and locally connected devices are always considered as lan ones, even using static ips.

I can connect if i’m directly connected over WiFi or locally attached network cable to the targeted router, using the IPv4 defined in the rule.

Active FTP is tried as well as FTP cmd/data. Both do not work over port forwarding. Ports 20/21/tcp are configured to be forwarded.

Any ideas?

Kind regards

Udo

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out.

Could you confirm if the your RUT901 WAN IP address is public? If the WAN IP falls within a private IP address range, this would explain why you cannot reach your device’s FTP port from the WAN side.

Additionally, I’d suggest reviewing this wiki Port Forward: Accessing LAN devices guide, as it should be helpful in your case.

I hope this helps! If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

Best regards,

Hi,

Thanks for your rapid response.

No, the device is embedded into a machine network, that has to be reachable from within installers network, but does not necessarily have to have Internet access.

Kind regards,

Udo
