Outdoor / Indoor antenna

Hello,
No one has been able to give me an answer yet. I have a RUTM54 and an LGMHM4B-6-60-24-58-5 antenna installed in my motorhome.
Now a colleague told me to connect a WiFi connection with an indoor antenna (supplied by you) in the motorhome.

RUTM54 WiFi next to USB to LGMHM4B-6-60-24-58-5 WiFi 1 (WiFi 2, 3, 4 free on the antenna)
RUTM54 WiFi to indoor antenna (supplied by you)

What would you recommend?

Outdoors, I actually only need 2.4GHz to connect to the campsite networks. Indoors, I only need 5GHz for my computer, smartphone, etc.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards

Greetings, @ChriWo,

Thank you for reaching out.

To better understand your requirements, could you please clarify the following:

  • The network scheme or topology
  • Whether you intend to connect both indoor and outdoor antennas at the same time

Regarding indoor antenna options, you may consider the following products:

I look forward to your reply.

Warm regards,
V.

Sorry for not specific.

I would like one external antenna connected to the external antenna with 2.4 GHz.

And one indoor antenna (which was included) for 5.0 GHz.

I hope this is clear now.

Regards

Chiming in here, hoping to be of help. Based on your description, the LGMHM4B-6-60-24-58-5 antenna has 4 cables to connect to the cellular antenna sockets on the RUTM54 (probably labled ‘mobile’), to enhance the reception of the mobile 4G and 5G signals to the RUTM54, using the cellular SIM or eSIM card in the RUTM54. This has nothing to do with connecting to the 2.4Ghz campsite network since thats a wifi network.

The LGMHM4B-6-60-24-58-5 antenna also has a number of cables to connect to the wireless antenna sockets of the RUTM54, the RutM54 has 2 of those sockets. Based on your description the LGMHM4B-6-60-24-58-5 antenna has 4 of those cables. But the benefit of using those cables is not clear to me, do you want to connect to the campsite wifi network in order not to use your mobile data via 4G/5G? If so, you could probably connect 2 of those cables to the RUTM54 wireless antenna sockets, it’s not wise to use one socket for one of the cables of the LGMHM4B-6-60-24-58-5 antenna and the other socket for the Teltonika supplied antenna stub. If you where to connect 2 wireless antenna cables of the LGMHM4B-6-60-24-58-5 antenna to the RUTM54, you would receive the campsite network better. It’s no problem your laptop, smartphone etc must then connect to the same LGMHM4B-6-60-24-58-5 antenna on your roof. But many campsite wifi networks are congested and slow, it would seem a great loss using such high-end devices like the RUTM54 and the LGMHM4B-6-60-24-58-5 antenna to connect to slow campsite networks.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your help and clarification.

Greetings,

Could you please confirm whether the explanation provided by @pwhooftman addressed your question, or if you require any additional clarification or have further questions?

I will be happy to assist further if needed.

Kind regards,
V.

Dear Vilius,

The explanation helped; I did some speed and signal strength measurements. And I’ve now decided to use one outdoor and one indoor antenna.

Best regards
