No connection to device via RMS VPN Hub

I have a RUT 300 router with RMS configuration.
In this router I have one device under 192.168.1.108 local IP address.

What I want is to create a VPN so I could access this device on my local computer - MacOS.
This is what I do:

  1. Create a VPN Hub and add myself and this device as “Clients” (attached screenshot)
  2. Add route for this 192.168.1.108 device from my router (attached screenshot)
  3. In Teltonika RMS VPN app I can see this VPN and I enable it. MacOS recognized this and the VPN state is Connected.
Unfortunately I can’t connect to 192.168.1.108 device or even ping it.
I know it’s online, because when I connect to the router via RMS CLI I can ping and telnet it.

Tracerouter from my local computer ends with this result:

krzysztof@MacBook-Pro ~ % traceroute 192.168.1.108
traceroute to 192.168.1.108 (192.168.1.108), 64 hops max, 40 byte packets
 1 192.168.255.1 (192.168.255.1) 41.213 ms 41.923 ms 36.108 ms
 2 * * *
 3 * * *
 4 * * *

What am I doing wrong?

Make sure your router is running on firmware 07.07.1

RUT300 Firmware Downloads - Teltonika Networks Wiki

It is running on newest firmware: 07.07.1

Did you follow the instructions and especially the part with “Modifying Firewall Zones”?

RMS VPN Hubs - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Yes, I did. See my attachment:

Did you restart the hub after configuring it? This is a crucial step…

Yes, I did. I restarted the hub, the whole router and local VPN connection couple of times.

Just tested for you on a RUTX50 running 07.07.1 by following exactly this video - and all is fine on my side…

You have a quick Windows machine you can test your OpenVPN connection with?

Hello,

Please let me know if you are able to reach your RUT300 via the RMS VPN IP assigned to it so we can proceed.

Best Regards,

Hi,
sorry for late reply.
I’ve tested it on a few devices and now I know how to do it.
Everytime I create a new VPN hub I have to connect to it on my computer and click this “Restart hub” button on MacOS app and then everything works fine.
Thank you all for help!

Jup - see my post #5

@TeWe I always did the hub restart after adding a new route in RMS online UI.
But I have to do it additionally in the MacOS client app.
