Modem firmware upgrade files for RUT240

Hello!

I have a few RUT240s in the field where a simple modem firmware upgrade through the webinterface or over SSH via dfota fails. I suspect that access to the FOTA server is blocked in the networks that these RUT240s reside in.

They all use modem firmware version EG25GGCR07A02M1G_30.001.30.001. Could you provide me with the upgrade package so that I can update the RUT240s via SSH?

I was provided with instructions on how to use the modem_updater program. This program allows firmware downgrades unlike dfota, but on top of access to an update server (like dfota) it requires a continuously available uplink, so it does not solve my problem at all.

Why do we need to perform this dance with forms and private communication? Just write “Try the modem_updater package” here, that would provide the same amount of information without the silly overhead.

So can I get the actual modem upgrade files instead of instructions on how to use another tool that requires a live connection to an upgrade service?

Hello,

Unfortunately, the modem firmware file for RUT240 is too large and cannot be updated the same way as RutOS firmware. The only available options are to update the internal modem via DFOTA or modem_updater.

I do not believe you.

I am sure I could provide the file over SSHFS or a local web server that I could port forward to over SSH. Just give me the update file, I will make the update work. I even promise to write up proper instructions here for other people to follow after me.

Unfortunately, there are no other options to update the modem firmware. Please let me know if you would like to proceed with the update once you are able to connect a different WAN source.
