Hi
I just upgraded 7 different RUT950 routers with the latest RUT9_R_00.07.06 firmware. 6 out of 7 are now missing the Wireless configuration page, which is normally under the Network menu.
This is what the Network menu looks like on the routers where the Wireless item is missing
While this is what it looks like normally (same firmware, but on a different router)
Also trying to get to the Wireless configuration page from a different path, i.e. from the wireless network setting (cogs/settings icon next to the wireless network name) does not work, and leads to a 404 Error page
Anyone has any idea of how I can get the Wireless configuration back?
Thanks for the quick reply.
The routers were all on RUT9_R_00.07.05 or RUT9_R_00.07.05.4 (mostly on this, but I do not have exact recording of which one was on which firmware)
Tried already accessing in incognito, no difference.
Also tried rebooting the router(s).
I am reluctant to try factory defaults already, as these routers are in very remote locations I am concerned losing connectivity and having to spend lots of time and money to fix.
Any other place (also using CLI/SSH) that I could look at to re-activate the wireless section?
Hi Fabio,
are you configuring the RUT950s via the RMS?
I’m not the RUT950 guy but I’m running 54 of the RUT240 at the moment.
When upgrading from v07.03.4 to v07.04.5 i did a “Do not keep settings”
thereby factory defaulting all of them and I did not have any problems.
Of cource YMMV (your mileage my vary) depending on special settings
you might have (VPNs, static IPs, etc).
I suggest to try it on one which is closest to you or a device you might have
on location.
Note: Before doing the firmware upgrade we would like you, to take a copy of the device’s backup and troubleshoot file in order to secure a copy of your current configuration.
You can upgrade the firmware on the router following below:
WebUI > System > Firmware > Update firmware > Turn off keep settings option > Upload the firmware
Note: Doing the firmware upgrade without “Keep settings” option ON will wipe out all existing configurations, and device might lose remote connectivity. Therefore, it is advisable to perform the firmware upgrade when the device is physically accessible to you or if you can ensure remote access through RMS or SMS Utilities as backup access.
Hello, I had the same problem as fabio.
Updating without keeping the settings did the trick, the wireless config pages reappeared.
Issues remaining with RUT9_R_00.07.06 is that firmware downgrade to RUT9_R_00.07.05.4 via “Update Firmware” section is not possible: “Unsuccessful upload 100 %
Firmware validation failed. Firmware image is too old. Check official sources for newer firmware version.”. - Not relevant for me anymore.
Also I have the same issue as Bernd in the thread: " App access not possible after Upgrade to *.06". The iOS App is not able to connect to the router on RUT9_R_00.07.06 firmware.
Isn’t your job to figure out the fundamental problem? How are people supposed to update FW for hundreds of devices without losing their configuration or access to router? All have to be reconfigured? Why do you keep “keep settings” option in FW, if the answer is always to try to update FW without “keep settings”?

We recommend testing firmware upgrades without keeping the settings in certain cases to ensure a smooth transition. This is because the latest firmware release might include improvements and bug fixes that could result in changes to the configuration files. To safeguard your configurations, it’s advisable to create a backup file. This way, you can easily revert to your previous settings if needed, ensuring everything works properly.
In the past I had quite a bit of trouble with some Rut firmwares (having a rut955 for 4years and doing almost all updates) but it also came a long way.
I think you should consider adding branches, for example “beta” and “stable”. In a professional environment I would not consider updating because you will never know if it will break something when you don’t read through the forum. For an hobbyist it’s not a problem testing stuff out with the risk of breaking things and rolling back. A more extensive testing beforehand would be even better. The enduser or business should not be the beta tester (without making that active decision).
Further a rollback to an earlier firmware should always be possible with one click and keeping the settings. This is something that needs to be ensured before releasing a new firmware.
I definitely agree with this. This is how e.g. ubiquity handles their updates, and one can always choose to be more bleeding edge (eg for beta, local testing equipment) or production/stable, for those devices that are critical, or just harder to reach.
If I did a factory reset without keeping settings, I would lose the zerotier VPN config, which is the only thing allowing me to reliably access the routers, as I am finding RMS reconfiguration is quite unreliable, in my experience.
I work under the assumption that if Teltonika provides a firmware update, it is both necessary and tested and I definitely try to update the routers as soon as possible, in particular to keep security fixes in check.
I would really appreciate if the Teltonika staff here could give some pointers to eg configuration files edits (via SSH/CLI) to re-activate the Wireless pages on the UI. The wifi networks are working just fine, so it seems the issue I am seeing is just a web UI one, not a deeper underlying issue.
I seem to have the same issue after upgrading a 955 from RUT9_R_00.07.03.4 RUT9_R_00.07.06, both the the Wireless, and more importantly for me, Mobile menu items are missing.
I only upgraded this router as it is having issues continually disconnecting and was hoping it would make some difference or assist me better in determining why as the multi-network SIM signals are all very high
Like others, this router is in a remote location so I can’t reset it remotely. After having major issues upgrading other 955’s firmware from (admittedly V6 to V7) I now have zero confidence in Teltonika’s firmware upgrades/procedures.
Our RnD team has managed to replicate the issue and have found a solution. The issue occurs when the device is updated from an older firmware version, or when incremental updates are done with the Keep Settings option enabled for several major firmware releases. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. The solution will be available in the 07.06.3 hotfix release .
If any issues are experienced even after updating to 07.06.3, please create a seperate thread and describe which firmware version the device was updated from. Thank you.
