Lost remote http admin access after reset (TRB140)

Hi there,

Had an issue with a (very) remote TRB140 losing its LAN connections after upgrading from 7.07.3 to 7.08. I remotely logged in and downgraded to the previous firmware which wipes the settings. Unfortunately after downgrading I am no longer able to use a web browser to remotely access the admin page (the address becomes *https://*123.123.123.123 and nothing loads).

Is there anything I can do to remotely to fix this and log-in as before, or do I have to physically connect it to a computer to fix it? I have tried access by explicitly setting the https port in the address (e.g. 123.123.123.123:443) with no success but can’t think of any other ideas. I am able to ping the IP address but that’s about it.

Thanks for any help

Hello,

I’m sorry to inform you, but when you downgrade a RUTOS device, it does not retain any configurations to prevent critical issues. The “Keep settings” option is only available during an upgrade. You’ll need to connect to your device locally to set it up again or upload a backup file if you have one.

Best regards,

Thanks for the quick reply! I do have a backup file, is it possible to upload it without SSH?

Hello,

You can upload the backup via the WebUI, which is the easier option. Just keep in mind that the backup can only be uploaded to the same device (in this case, TRB140) and to the same firmware version on which the backup was created.

Best regards,

Thanks, but the issue is that I cannot access the WebUI (what I was calling the “admin page”). It sounds like there is no real way to do this remotely after hard reset.

Hi,

Yes, there is no other way than to connect locally. Right now, your device is like any other new device you would receive from us after purchase: it has a default configuration and no external connections.

Best regards,
