Logging network traffic on ROOT300 with minimal network load

I’m using a RUT300 router with a Wi-Fi antenna attached. Two devices are connected to this Wi-Fi network: an Android-based mobile device and a mobile thermal printer. The printer processes around 100-150 prints daily, sometimes more, sometimes less. However, from time to time (approximately once every few hundred prints), communication between the devices drops. Android sends commands to the printer, but it doesn’t respond. Sometimes it’s not responding for even couple of minutes.

I would like to investigate whether the issue lies in the command getting lost within the network or if it’s the printer’s response that isn’t making it back to me. The problem occurs at unpredictable times – sometimes after a few days, sometimes within a single day.

Is there a way to log all network traffic on the RUT300 without putting too much load on the network and saving the logs in a way that doesn’t fill up storage too quickly? Ideally, I need to keep logging over a longer period to capture the incident when it happens.

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

You can check the system log via the WebUI by navigating to System → Maintenance → Troubleshoot and clicking on “Show” next to the system log.

Additionally, you can download a troubleshoot file from the same page for more detailed troubleshooting.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!

Best regards,
