Please assist with what the “Group” is for on Failover/ Load Balancing configuration.
Hello,
Group value in the load balancing configuration are used to apply different “metrics” to the interface groups. If both interfaces are in the same group, the traffic will be distributed based on the ratio value.
So let’s say you are using RUTX12 with two active mobile interfaces, wired WAN interface, and also WiFi WAN interface. Your interface metrics are as follows (from best to worst):
-
Wired WAN
-
SIM2
-
WiFi WAN
-
SIM1
If all interfaces are active, you’d prefer to load balance between the wired WAN and SIM2, and only if these interface are not available would you like to load balance between SIM1 and WiFi WAN. You’d put wired WAN and SIM2 in the same group, and WiFi WAN and SIM1 in the second group:
Since in the provided example wired WAN and the second SIM card are not active, the load balancing will be performed between WiFi WAN and the mobile interface.
Let me know if any additional information is needed!
Best regards,
Great, thanks for the information
