L2TP tunnel routing through wrong WAN interface

I have a RUTM30 configured with multiWAN in Failover mode:

Mob1s1a1 - online
WAN - standby

I have a Mikrotik router connected to the LAN interface. This establishes two L2TP tunnels to remote servers:

  1. L2TP/IPSec tunnel for remote management
  2. L2TP tunnel (no IPSec) for user traffic

With tunnel 1, I have no issues - the tunnel gets established correctly every time.
However with tunnel 2 the RUT always tries to establish it over the WAN interface despite this interface being in standby.

The only way I can force the tunnel to connect over mob1 is to temporarily disable the RUT’s WAN interface. However next time the tunnel drops for whatever reason it reverts to this interface.

I have no custom static routes or firewall rules.

Greetings,

Could you please confirm which firmware version is currently running on the device? If it is an older version, we recommend updating to the latest stable release. Performing the update without keeping settings would be recommended.

Best Regards,
Justinas

Hi there we already upgraded to the current version (7.20.3) which did not fix the issue.

Unfortunately we did not / cannot update without keeping settings as the router is in a remote customer location.

Greetings,

Apologies for the delayed response.

Could you please clarify whether you still require assistance or if the issue has already been resolved?

Best Regards,
Justinas
