L2TP connection on PC

Hi, I am using my RUT200 to host a L2TP VPN Server using a fix IP sim card. I have 2 other RUT200 acting as VPN clients which connects to this server as well.

Server local IP: 192.168.1.1
RUT200-1: 192.168.2.1
RUT200-2: 192.168.3.1
Laptop local IP: 192.168.5.100 (From normal home d-link router, 192.168.5.1)

When I am connected in the RUT200-2 network, I can access the RUT200-1(192.168.2.1) network by adding a static route rule with my VPN interface as shown below.

(VPN) 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 unicast.

So my problem now how do I replicate this process in my laptop so my laptop is able to access the RUT200-1 & RUT200-2 network?

I am using windows L2TP with pre-shared key option to connect and I have connected sucessfully with my laptop. But I am only able to access the server as of now as I dont know how to add the static route option in PC.

Can you advise?

Hi…
Your PC?
Windows?
You can use " p " permanent…

Linux?
There is a lot of linux flavors…
Google " In Redhat Enterprise Linux 6, you can add a persistent static route by creating a file named route-X in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ directory. "

But… My sugestion… Don’t do this at your PC…
Try to add static route in your d-link… your PC have the route to it and the d-link will solve this.

But… remember to check the route packets back in your RUT200-1 and RUT200-2. Just in case…

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Yes my PC/laptop is windows based.

Reason I cant do it in d-link because it doesn’t have the static route function. Its those conventional home routers.

Yes what do I key in the CMD of my windows to replicate the static route?

Hi…

Here a sample of command to type:

Using " -p " windows will keep this route after reboot.

You need to correct the command for your network ip address, netmask and gateway.

let me ask… what model of d-link are you using?
