Issue with Sharing Existing Wi-Fi Network via RUT241

Hello,

I have a Teltonika RUT241 device and my objective is to connect it to an existing Wi-Fi network and share this network’s internet connection. I want the RUT241 to distribute the internet it receives from the existing Wi-Fi network through both a new Wi-Fi network and via the WAN and LAN ports. Despite my efforts, I have not been successful in achieving this. Here are the steps I have taken and the issues I have encountered:

  1. Connected the RUT241 to the existing Wi-Fi network.
  2. Configured the Wi-Fi connection via the device interface.
  3. Attempted to set up a new Wi-Fi network.
  4. Configured the sharing of the internet connection through the WAN and LAN ports.

However, the internet connection is not being propagated through the new Wi-Fi network or via the WAN/LAN ports. Could you provide a step-by-step guide or any recommendations on how to properly configure this setup?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hello,

Attached below is a simple GIF that guides you through the entire process of connecting to another wireless access point (AP) and sharing its internet connection with a LAN network. In this example, my computer is directly connected to the RUT241 router.

Hello Marijus,
Thank you for your quick reply.
I want to create not only a LAN but also a Wi-Fi network. Is it possible to do this?
I want to use RUT241 as a hotspot. I want to create a new Wi-Fi network by connecting it to another Wi-Fi network.
Best regards,

Hello,

To set up a hotspot, you’ll need to use the Hotspot functionality, not the general wireless network settings. You can find this option by going to Services → Hotspot. For more detailed information, please visit the RUT241 hotspot functionality page.

If you have any other questions about setting up a hotspot, feel free to ask. You can also search this forum, as setting up a hotspot is a common topic.

Best regards,
