IPSEC keeps showing disconnected in GUI

Hi,

We already experienced this in 7.6.3 on a RUT955 and are still experiencing the issue on RUT955 (FW 7.6.11) and RUT956 (FW 7.6.10).

The issue is that the webui is showing an IPSEC VPN as disconnected, whereas when you check the CLI, it clearly shows the IPSEC VPN as online. This makes troubleshooting a lot of more difficult, as you can’t rely on the webui information.

Is this a known bug and when will this be adressed? A reboot of the RUT95x, changing browsers, etc. does not solve the issue.

Thanks for the inquiry!

Most probably, devices are updated with the “keeping the old settings” option after some major FW updates are already published.

It’s always recommended to take a backup which can be taken from the WebUI, on the System > Maintenance > Backup section. And upgrading without keeping the current settings option.
After FW upgrade is done, you can upload your backup file to the devices. You won’t need to configure your devices again!

If you’re not FW upgrading your devices often, I highly recommend you follow this procedure!

This is the case for some of the units, but we also have units that are upgraded to the mass production firmware, factory reset and configured from scratch - the issue is also still visible in these cases.

On another note, it is recommended to ALWAYS upgrade using DO NOT KEEP SETTINGS and then restore the backup from the previous firmware?

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I was trying to say that, If you’re not FW upgrading your device for a couple months, It will be behind for 2-3 major updates.
Every FW upgrade is either for a new feature implementation or for bugs, fixes, etc,…
If that’s the case you can upgrade without keeping current settings on, and you can upload your configuration file(backup) to your device. So, you won’t need to configure again your device and it will be free from the visual/graphical issues.

And it is always recommended to keep the FW on the latest version.

Hello,

You can delete the existing IPsec instance and create a new one with the same configuration. This should resolve the issue.
